Creative Packaging

The Dieline had a great post today on a limited edition packaging of The Simpsons Movie soundtrack. It is creative, cute and fun. Very fitting.

Art of the Title

I came across this fascinating site that deconstructs title sequences from movies and TV shows. Art of the Title has many of my favorites, including Vertigo, Six Feet Under and Carnivalé.

Beautiful, yet kind of weird shot. Taken with a Diana camera, kind of a cousin to the Holga.

30 Reasons

30 Reasons: 30 graphic designers present 30 reasons to vote for Barack Obama. The posters are sometimes funny and always well designed. To me, this is the most thoughtful.

50 Stunning Examples of a great redesign

Liam at Function Web Design & Development posted an interesting article about his favorite 50 examples of great redesigns.

He picks some good ones, and it is always fun to look back. I had not seen the original Microsoft logo, which was pretty terrible!

My personal faves on his list: The Simpsons (above), MailChimp, Firefox, Amazon.com, BBC and Barack Obama.

Typographic Marks Unknown

Alexander Charchar wrote an interesting article about the history of certain typographic marks. Did you know that "paragraph marks" were really called Pilcrows? Me either!

Mad Men: Realistic depictions of 60's typography?

Mad Men is a fabulous show. I love the style and the soapiness of it. Mark Simonson posted a great article about whether or not the typefaces used in Sterling Cooper's ads and in the show's titles are really relative to the era or not. They are typically spot-on with a few minor blips.
